Every Friday, the Pacific Islands Society creates a word cloud for one of the top news stories on the Pacific Islands that week. Word clouds provide a nice way to visually present large amounts of text found in news reports. Using word clouds, we can share aspects of a story which might have gone unnoticed and identify trends and patterns that are not obvious. To construct these word clouds, our staff first chooses one of the biggest news stories in the region. Then, we pull the top stories from Google News. Finally, we rip out the text and use a web application like Tagxedo or Wordle to visual the data. We hope that you enjoy the series!
